Parks & Plazas
Completion Date
2021
Location
Miami, FL
Inspire was engaged by the Florida Department of State-Office of Cultural, Historical, and Information Programs to provide master planning, landscape architectural, and wayfinding services for the Miami Circle. The State of Florida’s desire was to expand the educational /interpretative features of this 2,000-year-old historic landmark. The completed design provided a phased approach for implementation. The first phase addressed renovations to the site due to overuse, wear, and tear. The subsequent two phases feature native plantings and the development of “living room” seating areas overlooking the Miami River, the Brickell Draw Bridge, and Biscayne Bay. A second pathway to the Circle from the Miami Riverwalk was designed to provide improved accessibility across the site. In 2018, the State contracted Inspire to update key elements from the previously prepared plans.
